Beyond VFX is a collaborative apprenticeship program with Beyond FX, designed to teach real-time visual effects in a studio environment. Participants learn from one of the largest real-time VFX teams in the industry, utilizing a comprehensive database of tutorials, tips, and on-the-job knowledge. The program equips participants with the skills and portfolio necessary to meet AAA industry standards.
In this project, I served as lead content developer, overseeing various aspects of the project. My responsibilities included creating the level, designing puzzles, and programming the code for events, weapons, and puzzles. Additionally, I contributed to the collaborative project design and setup, level design, blockout, dressing, propping, and 3D environment and asset modeling. I handled environment dressing, lighting design, and the time-of-day system, as well as narrative construction and implementation.
I also managed blueprint prefabrication, gameplay mechanics, player and camera controls, and system design, engineering, and implementation. My work included designing interactive components, optimizing performance, and ensuring that all aspects aligned with the high standards of real-time VFX development.
